  20世纪末以来,上海“怀旧热”方兴未艾。但这种“怀旧”并非一个简单的文化心理学问题。衡山路上的酒吧的名字直截了当地道出了这一热潮的真实意图——“时光倒流”, “1931年”。为什么不到城隍庙或龙华塔去怀旧呢?很显然,人们怀念的只是那个“东方的巴黎”,那个“冒险家的乐园”,那个欲望澎湃的旧上海。这与其说是“怀旧”,不如说是对情欲自由状态的幻想。
  
  1930年代的旧上海为情欲提供了最好的自由宣泄场所,它差不多可以说是国际欲望的 “下水道”。正因为如此,它才既吸引了西洋流浪汉,也吸引了中国江淮一带的青春女子,甚至还有一大批情欲压抑而又野心勃勃的外省青年。一个外省青年来到这个地方,又能做些什么呢?要么在这个情欲的汪洋里自甘沉沦,要么将压抑的欲望升华为创造的动力或造反的激情。旧上海正是如此这般地培育了各式各样的冒险家,如一夜暴富的外国盲流哈同。后来的影视作品中的那些传奇色彩的人物,如许文强等也是其典范。这些人构成了旧上海神话。
